The one city in the world that I never get sick of is London. Studying abroad was probably the most enriching experience of my college career. From walking along the banks of the Thames, to the pubs, Camedon Town, and watching all of my Shakespeare classes at the Globe, I was in love. A year later, I was able to go spend another two weeks in London with my sister and my mother. My favorite people and my favorite city. I miss it. The goal is to ultimately live there.
On another note, I’m thinking of changing Snapshot Wednesday’s to Snapshot of the Day, and incorporating my life more into this blog. We’ll see how that goes!
Time to go listen to the Beatles and reminisce.
Banksy is like the Batman of graffiti (though his art decorates London, not Gotham.) This gem is particularly captivating. When I traveled to London and Paris, I was blown away by the social acceptance of graffiti and thought it really made the ancient cities even more magnificent. Pieces like Banksy’s are works of living art. I wish we saw more of this in New York City. I’m beginning to think I’m destined to move to Europe permanently.
Happy hump day!
It’s 7:30 AM and I’m driving to jury duty in Elizabeth, New Jersey. I’m going down 1-78 E and the sun is steadily climbing up the morning sky, illuminating and awakening it’s pinks and yellows that dance among the clouds. I’m sleepy and I yawn as I reach for my Starbucks cup. I don’t want to be going to jury duty, I don’t want to be up at 7:30 on my day off. I have been in a funk for the last few days. I turn on J.Cole’s “Apparently” and my mood is immediately lifted. I’ve got my wings to carry me.
So I’m dedicating Snapshot Wednesday to the beautiful Jermaine Cole. I love this scruffy look on him, too. And seriously, guys – if you haven’t tried listening to 2014 Forrest Hills Drive, you’re missing out. His music feeds your soul.
Photos of Solange Knowles and Alan Ferguson’s wedding this past weekend took Instagram by storm. My personal favorite was the photograph of the bridal party, and all of the women were standing behind Solange in all-white. Very Coven-esque, too.
I liked the fact that it wasn’t traditional and I felt that each photograph was powerful. The wedding seemed to encompass the magic of New Orleans.
The adorable video of Solange dancing to “No Flex Zone” with her son was a hit too. Check it out below.
Kim Kardashian’s instagram post for Paper Magazine just HAS to be this week’s snapshot Wednesday. Kim Kardashian ruffled feathers and made a bold statement yet again last night when she posted this photo, as well as another, where she’s balancing a champagne glass on her behind. My personal reaction was “really? Really, Kim?” She’s definitely the only celebrity that could pull this off, if you want to call it pulling it off…no pun intended. If the world was wondering what her husband thought of this magazine spread, Kanye West tweeted the photo a few hours later with the hashtag #ALLDAY.
Guess the Kardashians and the Wests will never fail to shock the world.
